Thats 1 in the win column.

13th November 2011

predicted in our previous post Bolton Bulls today put their first tick in the
win column with a hard fought win against Celtic Warriors  The game was preceded by a minutes silence in
remembrance of Zbigniew Micek (Zem)                                                                                                                       Bolton started with a five of: Tom
Eckersley Jack Heggie Andy
Golightly Darren
Birch Dave
Hughes. Both teams
started strongly in the first quarter, with good defence prevailing resulting
in a tight game at the buzzer. 2nd
quarter was much the same with the Bulls proving they are, in the main, a solid
defensive unit, Jack Heggie in particular taking some key rebounds.    On the offensive end Nate Williams made his
debut, scoring right on the stroke of half time to make the score 22-20 in
favour of the Bulls. The 3rd
quarter started with the starting 5 back on court for the Bulls, partly in an
attempt to consolidate the lead and partly to stave off the infamous “3rd
Quarter hoodoo” which the team has suffered on a regular basis for more years
than I care to think about.  This
basically involves the team managing to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory
in the 3rd quarter of  a LOT of games.  The
highlight of this quarter, from a Bolton point
of view has to be Darren “Gandalf” Birch who whilst facing away from basket
proceeded to score a lay-up backwards over his head.  No mean feat I’m sure you’ll agree and we’ll
all be expecting lessons during Thursday’s session.  3rd quarter ended with the Bulls
leading by one. The final
quarter once again started with the teams matching one another basket for
basket.  With approximately 3 minutes to
go Danny Dawoud made his debut for Bolton and
helped the team to close out the game with Jack Heggie ultimately bringing the
final score to Bolton Bulls 38 Celtic Warriors 36 with 2 well taken free
throws. The entire
game was caught on camera by our very own Shaun Haggerty which will be
appearing on a YouTube near you soon.  In
the mean time here’s a clip of us at training to whet your appetite.  Oh and Happy Birthday to Shaun from all at
the club for yesterday (Saturday.)
