Bolton Bulls travelled to Manchester Mavericks searching for their first away win of the season. The Bulls starting 5 consisted of Dan Craddock, Tom Eckersley, Andy Golightly, Darren Birch & Dave Hughes. The unit worked together well pressing the Mavericks back into their own half on several occasions.
The 1st quarter finished with the Bulls ahead 7 points to 6. Second quarter started in a similar vein with the 2 man press being kept in place, with a third man being pushed into the oppositions half on occasion to keep up the pressure. Highlight of the 2nd quarter (in my opinion anyway, was Coach Dan trying to stand up mid-court whilst on court and strapped into his wheelchair.) Second quarter finished with the Bulls increasing the lead to a half time score of 17 points to 10.
The second half commenced with the Bulls increasing the pressure on the Mavericks Defence. A good effort by all concened (including coach dan - I suppose I have to give him some credit) led to a score in Bolton's favour of 28-15 going into the final quarter. The game's final period was very similar to the first 3 in that the Bulls continued to dominate with the 2, and at times 3 man press being kept in place for the majority of the time. The game finished with the Bulls winning by 39 points to 21. Everyone played well and spirits remain high going into our next match vs Teeside.
