The Bolton Bulls wheelchair basketball club provides wheelchair basketball to people of all ages, disabilities and gender from all over the North West of England including Bolton, Bury, Blackburn, Wigan and Stockport.
It is with great sadness that the Bolton Bulls waves goodbye to one of its longest serving players today. Tom Bartley aka #10 is leaving us for pastures new. He is headed for Nuneaton to begin a new life, in a new job and with a lovely lady. Personally we don't see why he can't do that here.
Below are the highlights of the player profile he wrote for us a couple of years ago.
Name: Tom Bartley Age: 25 (ignore the greying hair, I've been struck down by a debilitating oldness disease before my time)
Squad number: 10 (was 22 until another player left then he mercilessly stole his shirt)
Playing since: 2003
Position: Point Guard / General Busybody Points Classification: 1 (We don't know how either)
Points scored this season: No idea but his foul count is fairly high
Skills: He says he is the Xavi of the wheelchair basketball world. Keeping Chairman Steve on the bench.
Offcourt Occupation: Forensics (Yes, just like CSI)
Likes: Bolton Wanderers, Most kinds of alcohol, His wonderful car (BMW ooohh yeeeaahh), Spending stupid amounts of time on the computer doing all manner of things (no, not THOSE things you dirty minded individuals), Socialising, epic banter, work trips to the pub, long walks on the beach etc etc
Dislikes: Bolton Wanderers. Strongbow Cider (it's my Kryptonite), just like Jack I also hate big G's basket celebration, waking up any earlier than 8:00am, not being on holiday.
As you can see Tom has been around for a while and today is playing his last match for us against Lothian. He intends to go out with a bang and play his best match of the season. Tonight we celebrate his time with the team and in true athlete fashion will get him totally wasted! We'll miss you Tom. You have a home at Bolton Bulls whenever you want to come back.
