The Bolton Bulls wheelchair basketball club provides wheelchair basketball to people of all ages, disabilities and gender from all over the North West of England including Bolton, Bury, Blackburn, Wigan and Stockport.
On Wednesday 12th November 2014, 10 players, volunteers and friends of Bolton Bulls completed the Manchester leg of The Run In The Dark global event; the run started simultaneously in Dublin, Cork, Belfast, London and Manchester at 8pm. Run In The Dark is organised by Life Style Sports to raise money for The Mark Pollock Trust, who aim to find a cure for paralysis. Bolton Bulls were more than happy to support The Mark Pollock Trust for this event and we home that some day our entry fees go some way towards curing paralysis.
I’m very pleased to say that all 10 participants for Bolton Bulls completed the 10km in 1 hour 43 minutes and we completed it as a team. Once again we have shown what an amazing team spirit we have at the club.
Andy Golightly, Dale Speight, Samantha Titterington, George Titterington, Chris Oakes-Courchene, Samantha Courchene, Loz Copping (as Captain Jack Sparrow), Steve Aston, Rachel Oakes-Courchene and Graeme Lambert.
We have raised £499 through our JustGiving page at the time of writing and when we take into account offline fundraising by the Bolton Bulls for this event, we are aiming to reach at least £700. This is a fantastic figure to raise in just 18 days and will go a long way towards getting new equipment for the club. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this total, we really appreciate your support.
If you haven’t yet sponsored us for The Run In The Dark and would still like to, you can donate through the JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/bulls-100km until February 2015. You can also donate via the website if you would prefer to, but please leave a message advising that it is for The Run In The Dark.
A massive thank you to everyone who cheered us on at The Run In The Dark and thank you to the organisers for having us; we thoroughly enjoyed the evening and hopefully we will be back for more next year!
Bolton Bulls’ next match is away to Derby Wheelblazers on Sunday 23rd November 2014 before we play them at home on Sunday 14th December 2015. #LetsGoBulls
