Match Report - Worcester Wolves vs Bolton Bulls

Written by Steve 10th November 2014

The Bolton Bulls starting 5 was Steve Aston, Dan Craddock, Dale Speight, Andy Golightly and Tom Eckersley.  The game started evenly with an early basket by Dan Craddock being the highlight from Bolton Bulls’ perspective.  However, later in the quarter, Worcester had more of the running leading to a score at the end of the first quarter of Worcester Wolves 14 – 7 Bolton Bulls.

Going into the second quarter, Bolton Bulls stuck with the same 5 players that finished the first quarter.  With Worcester Wolves continuing to have more of the game, Bolton  Bulls called a timeout and a sub, resulting in Graeme Lambert coming into the game for the first time, replacing Dan Craddock.

With the Coach’s words obviously ringing in their ears, Bolton Bulls scored the first basket after the timeout; a great shot from the baseline by Tom Eckersley reducing the deficit to 5 points.

Tight defence from both teams dominated the next few minutes.  However, just prior to the half time break Tom Eckersley scored 1 out of 2 free throws and added a further 2 points from a fast break.  The score at half time was Worcester Wolves 16 – 12 Bolton Bulls.

The 3rd quarter commenced with Dan Craddock coming back on for Graeme Lambert.  Once again, Bolton Bulls started the quarter well, this time with a basket by Andy Golightly. Throughout the rest of the third quarter, Worcester Wolves pulled further ahead with their #55 Ollie Buncombe being particularly impressive.  The score going into the final quarter Worcester Wolves 28 – 16 Bolton Bulls.

The main highlight of the final quarter was a solid defensive display by both teams and Sam Titterington coming in for Dale Speight for the final few minutes.  Sam quickly got into the action by fouling Worcester Wolves #44 Connor Allen; sending him to the line for 2 free shots where he missed both.

Final score Worcester Wolves 38 - 22 Bolton Bulls, a great match enjoyed by both teams and a lot to take away from this game in preparation for the return leg in April 2015.

The next match for Bolton Bulls is on 23rd November away to Derby Wheelblazers.  Until then, #LetsGoBulls!
